Wedding Alcohol

How Much Alcohol Should You Have At Your Catered Wedding

You probably wouldn’t feel surprised to hear how serving alcohol at the wedding drains the budget. In fact, to offset the cost, many couples have chosen to serve up the alcohol by stocking it themselves. It becomes a less expensive solution. However, this raises the question, “How much alcohol do I serve at my catered wedding?” We have simplified the cost for you.

Choose the Type of Bar

Reception bars give a couple of different choices. Some of the possible options include:

  • Cash-only bar
  • Beer and wine bar
  • Open bar

Open bars are more common, but they will also jack the wedding catering prices up. This lets the guests drink without a limit. For some wedding couples to save money, they may have chosen to go with the beer and wine bar. In some cases, they will add the signature cocktails and popular liquor drinks. Lastly, the wedding couple might choose to go with the cash-only bar where the guests buy the drinks. Many guests will think of this as rude, however. You might be better off limiting the bar over asking that your guests pay for each drink with the Calgary catering company.

Understand the Crowd

Before you buy the alcohol, you should estimate the number of individuals who will have alcohol at the reception. Are they heavy drinkers? Consider the beverage preferences of your guests as well.

You also have to look at the timing of the reception for the amount of alcohol you plan to have at the wedding. If you have a morning wedding or at the beginning of the afternoon, wedding guests might prefer not to drink than if you celebrate at night. In addition, guests have a higher likelihood of indulging on the weekend than over the weekdays when they will have work the next morning.
